Experienced in supporting individuals across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults), Vanessa emphasises on establishing a strong therapeutic alliance and adopts a collaborative, client-centred approach. She endeavours to provide a validating and safe space for clients to work through their difficulties.
Vanessa has worked with individuals experiencing various presentations (mood and anxiety disorders, Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, intellectual disability, emotional dysregulation, attachment challenges, and trauma) across multiple settings (hospitals, community, early intervention and special education settings) in both Australia and Singapore.
Being passionate and working extensively with children and adolescents, Vanessa helps the young client explore their challenges and learn adaptive ways to cope with their feelings; nurturing a healthy mental wellbeing for clients to lead a meaningful valued life. Recognising the importance of supporting the young client through maintaining positive and nurturing relationships in his/her life, she also works closely and holistically with families and other stakeholders (e.g., school and other allied health therapists).
Vanessa integrates a range of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Play-based therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Mindfulness in individual and group therapy. She also conducts psychometric assessments for both children (e.g., WISC-V, WIAT-III, non-verbal IQ assessment, ADHD) and in adults (e.g., WAIS-IV).
Vanessa conducts therapy in English.
