Dr Png completed the Advanced Specialist Training in Urology in TTSH and was awarded the Fellowship in Urology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2010 and board-certified as a Specialist in Urology in 2011. The other academic awards he received included the Singapore Urological Association-European Board of Urology Book Prize and 2 prestigious travelling fellowship awards: the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow-Ethicon Foundation Travelling Fellowship and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh-John Steyn Travelling Fellowship in Urology.
From 2011-2012, Dr Png received the Ministry of Health-National Healthcare Group Health Manpower Development Plan Award to undergo further training at the prestigious Indiana University School of Medicine in the United States for his subspecialty in advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery, an accredited fellowship program of the Endourological Society (USA).
As the Director of Robotic Surgery, Dr Png oversees the development of minimally invasive surgery and serves as surgical proctor for robotic surgery in the department. He is proficient in robot-assisted operations using the Da Vinci surgical platform such as robotic prostatectomy, robotic partial nephrectomy and other reconstructive robotic operations. He is also proficient in advanced reconstructive kidney surgery using laparoscopic (key-hole) techniques.
Dr Png’s other interest is medical prevention and treatment of stone disease, having participated in multidisciplinary stone clinics during his fellowship training. In addition, he attends to all general urological conditions and urological cancers in his clinic.
Dr Png concurrently holds the appointments of Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Clinical Teacher at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is a Honorary Secretary of the Singapore Urological Association. He is also a Founding Member and Honorary Secretary of the Robotic Surgery Society of Singapore. He is a member of the Society of Urological Robotic Surgeons (USA), Endourological Society (USA) and an International Member of the American Urological Association.
